Golf-centric retirement home may be appealing to many seniors

Combining fitness with strategy and technique, golf has been a time-honored pastime of many sport enthusiasts. During their golden years, many seniors like to hit the links for days on end. One retirement home that may be ideal for silver-haired golfers is the World Golf Village in Northeast Florida.

This is already proving to be a popular destination for many older adults who are looking for a senior living community that is in a beautiful, sunny location and offers endless opportunities for entertainment.

"We're seeing more younger 'upcoming' retirees relocate to World Golf Village while they are still working full-time," Sherry Davidson, president of Davidson Realty, said in a statement. "People seem to be planning ahead toward retirement while still in their '40s and '50s and taking advantage of excellent prices and low interest rates now."

Northeast Florida may also be a great place for retirees because it is quieter and more relaxed that other parts of the state, but still offers access to major metropolitan areas such as Jacksonville and St. Augustine - the latter of which was named one of the best places to retire by SmartMoney magazine.

Other places listed by the publication include Prescott, Arizona; Chattanooga, Tennessee; Asheville, North Carolina and Bloomington, Indiana.
