The AARP recently announced that their yearly convention, AARP National Event and Expo, will feature a trio of famous senior citizen speakers. The St. Augustine Record reports that Whoopi Goldberg, Larry King and tennis legend Martina Navratilova will all be making appearances.
The annual three-day event, which is being held in Orlando, Florida, offers older adults with a wide variety of helpful advice. Attendees can attend workshops on health and fitness, relationships and financial advising.
The expo may also be beneficial to caregivers, as they can parlay the helpful hints into providing better care for their loved one or family member.
In addition to offering useful guides for senior citizens, the AARP is also providing a concert that will include performances by Crosby, Stills and Nash, Gloria Gaynor and B.B. King.
The event can be important to the growing number of older adults in the United States. According to the Administration on Aging there were 39.6 million adults over the age of 65 in the United States, which is about 12.9 percent of the population.
