A longtime resident at a California retirement living community recently celebrated her 105th birthday. However, according to the North Country Times, Helene Falk has no secret formula for living such a long life.
"When I find out from the good Lord what my secret [to a long life] is, I will tell you," Falk told the news provider. "I'll send you a card."
Despite her coy response, Falk likely benefited from living such an active lifestyle.
Workers at the retirement living center told the news provider that the centenarian is especially fond of dancing and eating good food. The news source reports that she displayed her penchant for activity at her most recent birthday party when she began dancing to Paparazzi by Lady Gaga.
Older adults who are looking for a way to maintain their youthful exuberance may want to consider their diet. According to TheDietChannel.com, older individuals should increase their intake of antioxidants and potassium-rich fruits and vegetables. Food such as blueberries, broccoli and Brussels sprouts can keep cholesterol at a normal level and alleviate joint pain.
