Jane Fonda rose to fame in the 1960s and 70s for her leading roles in movies like Barbarella and Klute, but it was her fitness videos in the early '80s that made her a household name. Now, the Daily Mail reports that the 72-year-old Fonda is once again releasing an exercise video, but this time its aimed at senior citizens.
According to the news source, the DVDs will be released in November and are targeted at the baby boomer generation, specifically women who were in their 20s and 30s when the first of her videos were released 28 years ago.
Despite the fact that Fonda has had a hip and knee replaced in the last several years, she is still in great shape, and knows the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle.
"I know from experience and from my research how critical it is for seniors to be physically active," Fonda told the news provider. "I want to focus on them with things that are easy, perfectly safe, not intimidating and that will get them moving."
The American Academy of Family Physicians reports that exercise in older adults can protect from chronic disease, improve mood and reduce the risk of injury.
