Jeff Bridges, active living senior, gets Oscar nod for Crazy Heart

Jeff Bridges has had a long and successful career, and the active living senior doesn't show signs of slowing down anytime soon.

The 60-year-old actor, who got his start as Duane Jackson in The Last Picture Show (for which was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor) has never actually gotten one of the coveted golden statuettes, but perhaps this is his year.

The star has been nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Actor category for his portrayal of Bad Blake in Crazy Heart. Blake is a down-and-out country singer who is past his prime and has hit rock bottom. However, when he meets Jean Craddock (Maggie Gyllenhaal), a young journalist, he begins to slowly turn his life around.

In addition to his Oscar-nominated performance, Bridges also voices many of the tunes on the original soundtrack.

Retirement seniors who have enjoyed Bridges' other films, such as The Big Lebowski and The Men Who Stare at Goats, may want to check out Crazy Heart.
