Retirement living communities offer residents active, vibrant lives

In years past, a move to a retirement living community might have been viewed as a bittersweet transition. However, the New York Times reports that the new generation of active living seniors is looking forward to the change.

"We can't wait," Jackie McMakin told the news source of her and her husband David's impending relocation.

In order to be certain that Wake Robin was the right choice for them, the couple spent a few days at the community to meet the residents and take in the amenities.

Though enthusiastic seniors across the country seem to be interested in a new wave of retirement living, the financial crunch might have affected their options. However, if seniors can find an active living community within their budget, they are likely to experience benefits.

The Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation recently published a study that suggested staying active is important for seniors who wish to remain functional and healthy.
