Artist finds inspiration at retirement living community

A woman in the state of Washington has combined her two passions and found the inspiration to do so in a senior housing facility.

Nannette Pawlowski is a caregiver and artist in Vashon whose profession and favorite pastime seem to have a positive effect on each other, according to the Vashon-Maury Island Beachcomber. Pawlowski recently decorated the Vashon Community Care Center with her drawings and quilts, some of which were inspired by the facility's residents.

"I love helping one person at a time, and hearing their stories," the artist told the news source.

Shirley Boardman lives at the center and her husband, who passed away, is the subject of one of Pawlowski's fiber art pieces, reports the publication.

According to its website, the Vashon Community Care Center is a nonprofit facility that offers on-site assisted living services, skilled nursing care and a day program for seniors who want to live at home.
