A well-known medical care facility has received approval to build a new location in one of the UK's vacation destinations.
Barchester Healthcare is now set to build a new retirement home next to the Lakeside Residential Home in St. Peter, one of the 12 parishes of Jersey in the Channel Islands, the Jersey Evening Post reports. It will also be near the airport at Rue de la Commune.
Lakeside will remain with the new Barchester location to be erected in the car park and on rural land nearby, according to the article.
Though there were no verbal objections to the new facility during the ministerial meeting, there was a letter from the National Trust urging for more of a "reference to either local architecture or local materials," the Post reports.
Barchester Healthcare was founded in 1993 and today cares for more than 10,000 people at more than 170 different locations.
The organisation's philosophy is "to exceed all required standards and in so doing establish its own quality benchmark." Barchester's inspection results have been higher than the industry average.
Some of the services offered by Barchester are palliative care and assisted living.
