Seniors Walk the Catwalk in Maryland

Think of all the great female models over the years: Kate Moss, Cindy Crawford, Cheryl Tiegs, Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum, et cetera. They have aspects in common - thin, stunning, and especially - young. The catwalk is no place for older women.

15 senior citizen models held its inagural fashion show at the senior center in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. “We’re the feistiest senior center in the county,” voluteer Rose Brown told EdgwaterDavidsonPatch.

120 people attended the event savoring tea and snacks.

During the show, 15 senior models walked the runway attired in outfits from a variety of cultures. Twelve women and three male “escorts” exhibited outfits ranging from African ceremonial garbs to colonial English dance attire.

About 100 volunteers made the event possible. “Because of the budget cuts, we’re down to two employees at the senior center,” Denise Miller, the center's office manager told the media source.

“There’s life after retirement,” said volunteer and coordinator Sally Guaragna. “It’s not the age in your life, it’s the life in your years.”

Being socialable is necessary for Assisted Living and Continuing Care residents.
