New center in Albany to help seniors
Date Added: 31-03-2005
Seniors seeking help on a number of life issues have a new place to go now. On March 21, Jewish Family & Children's Services of the East Bay opened a new Center for Older Adult Services in Albany, at 828 San Pablo Ave.
The center provides a range of services, from counseling and case management to workshops, a computer resource lab and training for caregivers.
It offers more services than Jewish Family offered to seniors in the past — services people have been asking for, said Judith McFadin, Jewish Family & Children's Services' development and marketing director.
The center's goal is to help seniors stay independent and to enhance their involvement with their families and the community. Its services are available to seniors and their families in Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
The opening week kicked off with a workshop series with topics such as estate planning, driving and self-care. The center also offers ongoing support groups for seniors and family caregivers.
