Six years ago, Priscilla Clapp could have never imagined living in a retirement community. As an active senior citizen, the slow-paced environment didn’t match her lifestyle. But Monday, the 82-year-old will take the leap as the first resident to move into Maris Grove Retirement Community, a new, independent-living development in Concord for people 62 and older.
"Monday, I’ll be in. I get a big kick out of it," said Clapp, enthusiastic about the move.
After living in Acton, Mass., for 58 years, the widow and mother of three adult children moved to Swarthmore last August to be closer to her son Rich and two of her six grandchildren.
When Clapp’s sister, who lives in a senior community in Baltimore, informed her that Erickson Retirement Communities was building a development in Delaware County, Clapp was ready for a change.
