Homebound meals, personal care offered to seniors

Retirement News : Seniors : Homebound meals, personal care offered to seniors

Date Added: 25-03-2005

New clients are now being accepted by the Shenandoah Area Agency on Aging to receive homebound meals, according to Helen Cockrell, the agency’s executive director.

Seniors may also apply for homemaker assistance and personal care as well as daily delivery of a hot meal.

During national “March for Meals” month, the Shenandoah Area Agency on Aging would like to reach out and serve more elderly persons in Clarke County who need a little help to remain living independent and in their own homes.

Recent fund-raising efforts have enabled the agency to expand services to assist more seniors in the Northern Shenandoah Valley.

For those seniors able to leave their homes, the agency provides van transportation to the Clarke County Senior Center for interesting activities and a congregate meal.

Respite care is also offered for persons with Alzheimer’s or dementia.
