ELGIN — A Chicago-based developer is looking to put 136 rental units and 24 condominiums for seniors on North McLean Boulevard.
The project by Senior Lifestyle Corp. — which operates 27 communities in eight states, according to its Web site — is slated for a Nov. 21 hearing before the planning commission.
Autumn Green at Elgin, as the development is known, would consist of two four-story buildings that would take the place of the Schock's Greenhouse on McLean, just south of Eagle Road.
A smaller, 24-unit condo building would sit at the northeast corner, along McLean, while a 136-unit building would occupy the southeast portion, with a finger extending toward the north. There would be a total of more than 160 parking spaces.
Plans submitted to the city by the developer show the western, wooded third of the site, which is crossed by Tyler Creek, remaining undeveloped, with part being taken up by a retention pond.
