The Plaza Cos. in Glendale and Classic Residence by Hyatt are entering a joint venture to develop a luxury continuing care retirement community on part of the now-closed Rawhide Old West theme town in North Scottsdale.

Marketing for the luxury retirement community will start in mid-2006, with construction of the 270 independent living residences starting in late 2007 or early 2008, said Plaza Cos. President and Chief Executive Sharon Harper.

The new luxury senior living facility will feature residences and an on-site care center offering assisted living services for residents with Alzheimer's symptoms and skilled nursing care.
