ELDRIDGE - If you're a senior citizen from the North Scott area with questions about prescription drug plans, transportation or local senior services available, you'll want to be at "The Senior Wellness Fair."

The event will be held Wednesday, Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Eldridge Community Center, 400 S. 16th St.
The elderly, their family members and others interested in finding out more about what's out there for golden-agers are encouraged to attend the free event, which is being sponsored by Senior Voice and Generations Area Agency on Aging.
More than 15 agencies and businesses will be represented at the fair, including the Center for Active Seniors, Inc. (CASI), Genesis, Trinity, Friendly House, Medic, River Bend Transit, Triad, Senior Homes, North Scott Fitness Center, local law enforcement, the Scott County Library and others.
Music will be provided by The Blue Chips Band, and there will be gifts and door prizes. Attendees are invited to stay for lunch at the GenAge Café (Eldridge's senior mealsite). However, reservations are required by calling (800) 892-9085 or 324-9085, ext. 217, by Nov. 1. The suggested donation is $2.50 for those 60 and over and $4 for those under 60.
Rosemary Baker, chairperson of county operations for Senior Voice, said she is hoping that the fair will put the spotlight on the city's meal site, or GenAge Café, where plenty of good conversation is served up with the entrees.
"We'd like more people to take advantage of (the meal program)," she said.
Organizers of the Wellness Fair are hoping for a good turnout for the event, which has much to offer plus-60 residents. Baker said the organization tries to sponsor two such fairs each year at various locations throughout the county.
