A new assisted living facility is coming to Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Read the excerpt below.

Oct 19, 2005 SAULT STE. MARIE - Construction on a brand new 17,396-foot assisted living facility has begun along Portage Avenue in preparation for the July 2006 grand opening.
“Assisted living fills that gray area between independent living and long-term care,” explained owner and operator Melissa Hinkson. “It's a place where you can go and have a private apartment - your independence - and still have someone around 24-7 to help you with your needs.”
The Freighter View Assisted Living Community will house 26 separate living quarters including 17 single and nine double units. Hinkson said she has been in this business for two decades, running a 12-bed group home in McMillan for the developmentally disabled and mentally ill adults.
“That's how I got started,” she said.
There was a tremendous need for a similar facility to house senior citizens and, for years, she had to turn down these requests.
