LONGMONT — “If we build it, will you come?” Kate deLaGrange asked during Thursday night’s orientation to the elder cooperative housing concept.

The meeting shed light on the new elder co-housing community planned for the northeast corner of Prospect New Town.

Elder co-housing is designed for adults 55 and older to live in a supportive community setting. The project will consist of 25 to 30 attached homes clustered around shared areas.

Arthur Okner, who lives in the Nomad co-housing community in Boulder, said the co-housing concept fosters a tightknit community.

“There’s nothing you wouldn’t do for (your neighbors),” he said. “It’s that tight of a community.”
