SLEEPY HOLLOW — Construction of Sleepy Hollow's first affordable senior-housing development is expected to start next spring and take 18 months to complete.
The plan for the 65-unit rental building received a key boost when the project's developers — Mountco of Eastchester and the nonprofit Westchester Management Group of Sleepy Hollow — won state approval for a financial package worth more than $10 million last month.
The housing would be located on village-owned land on Valley Street, a half-acre site now used for a parking lot by the federal low-income housing complex Margotta Court. To make up for that loss of parking, the new building is to include two levels of parking for both the low-income residents and seniors. The parking will be located on the building's first two levels, which would be topped by seven stories of housing.
Housing officials cite a huge demand for the housing.
