Stanley Consultants, headquartered in Muscatine, Iowa, has received top ranking on AARP’s annual list, Best Companies for Workers Over 50.
Deborah Russell, AARP director of work force issues based in Washington, D.C., said the list was established in 2001 to highlight employers and provide a forum to share best practices.
“Stanley has had a consistent record of valuing their mature work force,” Russell said. “They have demonstrated that their policies and practices are beneficial to older workers.”
Deere & Co., Moline, was in fourth place on the list. Both Stanley and Deere have appeared on the list in previous years.
Russell said this is the first year an emphasis has been placed on the rankings, because of the large pool of companies that applied to be on the list.
“We’re truly honored for this recognition,” said Gregs Thomopulos, president and chief executive officer of Stanley Consultants. “It is a result of our company’s corporate culture.”
He said that Stanley’s business, engineering consulting, is a knowledge business so the experience of employees is important to the company and to its clients.
