Retirement News : Seniors : State Warns Seniors Of Prescription Drug Scam

Date Added: 25-07-2005

SANTA FE --  The attorney general's consumer protection division is warning senior citizen New Mexicans against calls about prescription drugs.

Attorney General Patricia Madrid said callers are seeking personal bank information.

She reminds consumers never to give personal information to people who contact them at random -- no matter how legitimate they sound.

An elderly woman told Madrid's office she received a sales call at the nursing home where she lives.

She said the caller offered discount drugs and told her the firm got her bank account number from the Internet.

They asked her to verify her account number.

Madrid said the woman gave it out, but later canceled her account and didn't lose anything.
