June 27, 2005--American Retirement Corporation (NYSE:ACR), a leading national provider of senior living housing and care, announced today that it was added to the Russell 2000 Index, effective at the close of the market on June 24, 2005.
The Russell 2000(R) Index measures the performance of the 2,000 smallest companies in the Russell 3000 Index, which represents approximately 8% of the total market capitalization of the Russell 3000 Index. Membership in Russell's U.S. equity indexes -- widely used by investment managers and institutional investors for index funds and as benchmarks for both passive and active investment strategies -- is determined primarily by market capitalization rankings and style attributes.
