Many active seniors like to take advantage of all of the free time that retirement living offers them by traveling the world and exploring new places.

However, pet lovers often find that frequent travel presents a few challenges. Though cats can be checked on by a friend or neighbor, dogs require constant care and attention.

Happily, retirement living seniors who don’t feel comfortable leaving their dog in a kennel or frequently impinging on the kindness of their friends can seek out hotels that will allow their pooch to stay with them.

According to AARP’s Travel Ambassador, Peter Greenberg, certain websites like BringFido.com will allow retirement living travelers to specify their destination and investigate the pet-friendly hotels available to them.

Keeping their pets close will likely bring retirement living seniors peace of mind, though it could also benefit their overall wellbeing. Studies show that pet owners have a lower risk of heart disease, according to the Pets for the Elderly Foundation.
