In today’s digital age, online dating is relied upon for its convenience and anonymity. Still, many active living seniors may feel as though the activity is geared toward the younger generation only.
But, new studies have suggested that the nation’s elder population may be finally catching on to the perks of online dating.
According to the Newark Advocate, dating sites are noticing an increase in the amount of members who are over the age of 50.
"It’s just a good way to expand your options and try something different," Amy Canaday, spokeswoman for Match.com, told the news source. She mentioned that the senior demographic on their site increases about 15 percent every year.
There are many reasons for some active living seniors to be single. Aside from a rising divorce rate, many individuals may have lost their spouse. A study conducted by SeniorJournal.com showed that over 16 percent of single people in the United States are over the age of 65.
Whether or not retirement living seniors who are looking for love turn to online dating, they should remember that there are many ways to meet someone special.
