The staff at a care home in Plymouth, Devon, U.K. have been praised by residents for their efforts and actions following the outbreak of a fire.
In total, 38 residents were evacuated from the home as a result of the fire, but they were allowed to return an hour after the blaze.
Nursing care providers working at the Freshfields residence in the St Budeaux area were praised by those living there following their quick thinking when the fire started.
Doreen Nankivell told the Plymouth Herald that everyone who worked there had done "their best".
The owner and manager of Freshfields Angela Teasdale said the nursing care staff had been "heroic".
"I always know that I had a special team of staff and you really proved yourselves on the day," Ms Teasdale told the paper.
In related news, another carer has been commended for her commitment to nursing care. Gill Cole, aged 73, is older than some of the people she looks after, but continues to enjoy her work.
She told Walesonline.co.uk that working as a nurse is fulfilling the career desires she had when she was young.
