A new nursing home will bring work for skilled nurses, as well as much-needed care for patients in the local Chatham area.
The Chatham Health and Rehabilitation Care Center will provide 85 rooms and has the potential to employ approximately 100 people, the Danville Register & Bee reports. It is scheduled to open June 1st of next year.
Joyce Denham, official from the assisted-living community developer Agemark, will manage the center.
She told the Register the facility will deliver economic benefits to Chatham as well as "state-of-the-art care" to the future residents.
"This facility is going to impact this community greatly," said Denham in the article.
The center will also provide Chatham, a town of roughly 1,300 people, its second facility for senior citizens. Prior to this, only Oak Grove Residential Care offered any services to the local population.
For those who may feel overwhelmed about the process of choosing a nursing home, the National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-Term Care (NCCNHR) suggests talking to the prospective nursing home resident first to determine their medical needs.
In the U.S., there are approximately 15,800 nursing homes, according to 2006 research from the CDC.
