Assisted living facilities are home to happy workers and residents, according to the results of a survey of more than 200,000 employees, a total of 54,000 older Americans who use the facilities and more than 100,000 family members who have chosen to supplement the care of their loved ones with nursing home care.
The numbers are the highest they’ve been for occupants in the past three years, and the past two years for providers, notes McKnight.
Conducted by My Innerview, the survey found that 85 percent of residents had a good or excellent experience at their facilities, similar to their families experience with the facilities’ staff.
The nurses and nurses assistants who were polled showed improved satisfaction with their job experience, though they say increased stress management assistance from management could help maintain quality care, seen as the most important factor in resident’s ratings.
"This is by far the largest database ever collected about the levels of satisfaction among residents, families and employees in America’s nursing homes," said Neil Gulsvig, president, My InnerView. "This report is useful to consumers, providers and policymakers because it establishes important benchmarks about consumer and workforce satisfaction in the nation’s nursing homes and increases transparency overall."
