Communities have been offering training seminars for elderly residents looking to incorporate the internet in retirement living plans, and a recent example found seniors in Franklin Township, New Jersey learning how to avoid scams and find their way online.

According to Pew Research, seniors are increasing their use of broadband internet which allows them to easily access complex websites, and the session at the municipal community and senior center used Verizon employees to educate the elderly residents on how to best use the technology.

"The internet provides many benefits including education and entertainment, and more and more seniors using this valuable tool," said Assemblyman Upendra Chivukula, who sponsored the presentation. "[I have] always been fiddling around with computers," Illy Brown, one early adopter, told the news provider about the site.
