The older generation of Britons tend to put off downloading content from the internet due to prior bad experiences and a lack of spare time, one sector commentator has claimed.
Commenting on the impending digital switch over, Ben Camm-Jones, news editor at Web-User Magazine, said another factor which may put off older people are varying broadband connections which demonstrate differences in terms of speed and quality. |

Older people may be able to keep the effects of ageing at bay for longer by using the internet regularly to keep their minds active, one sector commentator has claimed.
Tom Stewart, joint managing director of System Concepts, said that there was evidence to suggest that the prolonged use of the brain can prevent the negative side effects of ageing from surfacing and can also keep people alert.
"There's almost a classic cliche that it's not getting older that stops you from doing things; it's stopping doing things which makes you get older," he stated. |

Older women tend to find it a lot easier to enrol for a computer course in order to expand their knowledge than men of their age do, one sector commentator has claimed.
Helen Milner, managing director of UK online centers, said that ladies who are aged over 50 often joined a class with their friends, making the experience more of a social occasion which provides them with support from other people who are in the same position. |

According to comScore, Inc., Americans spent $29.2 billion online between November 1 and December 31, 2007, up 19 percent over the previous year. On Thanksgiving Day alone, consumers ordered $270 million in gifts before tucking into their turkey and cranberry sauce. The shopping season reached its high point on Monday, December 10, when Americans reached for their credit cards and clicked their way through $881 million in purchases.
