"Prescription drug use is heavily concentrated in people over [the age of] 55" says Steven Findlay, senior health policy analyst at Consumers Union.
Studies have found that although people realize they should take their medication at a certain time, they often miss important doses.
Because of this, their health may be compromised.
Experts recommend that retirement living seniors who do not have caretakers pay close attention to their medication.
They also advocate for seniors to have a better understanding of how their medications work, and recommend patients take notes at the pharmacy and bring along a close friend or relative to help them comprehend all the information presented to them.
Retirement living seniors should remember that while taking medications could be difficult at times, it may be necessary for their wellbeing. Individuals who follow prescription guidelines should discover that their overall health has improved.
