For seniors who can maintain many of the same options they had when they were younger in active living communities, not knowing enough about one activity may have consequences less delicate than the popular TV phrase "making whoopie."
A recent public forum in Chapel Hill found older Americans asking the same questions about safe sex, highlighting the fact that about one-fifth of those who reach retirement age are still sexually active according to a News-Observer report.
"They will show the younger generations they are just as worthy of having a healthy sex life as younger people," UNC geriatrician Dr Racquel Daley-Placide told the news provider, adding that safe sex education should be brought to older Americans, as they made up 30 percent of HIV cases in North Carolina in 2007.
Education continues to be important about safe practices as University of Chicago scientists found when they released the results of a survey finding that more than half of single women over the age of 58 didn’t use a condom the last time they were active according to U.S.
