One of the joys that retirement living seniors can experience is having more time to prepare meals for their close friends and family.
Loved ones will look forward to gathering around a table laden with home-cooked favorites, and swapping stories and anecdotes as they eat.

For active living seniors who like to stay busy, having a weekly meal to plan and prepare might be a nice way to fill up the time and hone their skills in the kitchen.

One admirably vigorous cook who does exactly that is Ruth Onley, a 95-year-old resident of Frederick, Maryland, who spends her Sundays preparing a feast of comfort foods like fried chicken, cabbage, sweet potatoes and macaroni and cheese for her 14 family members, according to the FrederickNewsPost.com.

During the meals, Onley discusses current events and sports with her guests, which include her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

The news source reports that Onley has been cooking since she was 17, though she has plenty of other hobbies as well, including canning food and working on crossword puzzles.
