When founded in 1956 the NIAGARA LUTHERAN HOME was the first freestanding nursing facility in Western New York. Today the NIAGARA LUTHERAN HEALTH SYSTEM is a not-for-profit, Christian-based organization relying on reimbursements, private pay and community generosity to provide high quality care and services to our aging population. We now have two locations, one in Buffalo and the other in Lancaster, New York.

The Loretto Utica Center is a 120-bed elder-centered community for individuals to grow and make new friends. The Center provides 24-hour nursing supervision and care for guests in a secure, home-like atmosphere. Loretto Utica offers a full range of services including occupational and physical therapy, a special 40-bed dementia unit, social services and counseling, as well as social, cultural and educational activities.

Doubleday Woods is easily accessible to essential services and stores, as well as emergency and health services. At Forest Hills Care Center, our dedicated team of physicians, nurses and therapists is committed to the health care and recovery of our residents. As a small facility, we foster a "family" atmosphere where each resident receives individual and personal care.

Apartment living is offered for the elderly person or couple who is still able to live independently. Each apartment features separate bedroom, living/dining room combination, full bath and complete kitchen. Supportive and Assisted Living efficiency-like rooms vary according to State. These arrangements encourage independent senior living, but on a much smaller scale—one that a senior can manage.
