Each residential unit includes large windows, an independent heating and cooling system, refrigerator, microwave oven, walk-in shower and closet, and a state-of-the-art centrally monitored emergency call system. All units also feature private security locks, a centralized smoke detection and alarm system, and a centralized sprinkler system for fire protection. In selected units, French doors open to the landscaped courtyard. All utilities, including cable TV, are paid. Spacious common areas and rooms enhance the comfortable lifestyle at Rambling Oaks. Great rooms on the east and west are perfect for sitting by the fireplace or visiting with a neighbor. Two television lounges provide cozy spots for sharing TV or movies with a friend. In the arts, crafts and activities room, residents can have birthday parties, join in activities, or launch an arts and crafts project. Those looking for quiet time can find it in the library. An exercise, fitness and health area is available for residents who want to keep heart, body and joints in good shape, but when it’s time to relax there are three sun rooms. A traditional “screened” back porch allows you to enjoy the courtyard without braving the elements, while a down-home front porch is a great place to enjoy the outdoors in balmy weather. Other amenities include post offices on the east and west ends of the community where you can comfortably read mail and write letters, a hairstyling salon and barbershop, a whirlpool bath and a classic dining room serving three meals a day. About Norman, Oklahoma The city of Norman is a pleasant community whose colorful history is linked to the Santa Fe Railroad and the Oklahoma Land Run. While surveying land for the planned land run, a young chainman named Abner Norman was promoted to supervisor over his older crew members and they made him the focus of their pranks. At a temporary camp near the future site of Norman, the crew stripped the bark from a tree and burned “Norman’s Camp” into the trunk. A few years later, when the Santa Fe Railroad was built through the “Unassigned Lands” prior to the land run, the crew found the campsite and the tree and when they completed the railroad and built the train station, they named it Norman. Thanks to the railroad, the city thrived and today has a population of more than 100,000. In 1890, Norman was chosen as the site for the University of Oklahoma and now boasts the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History, Lake Thunderbird State Park and the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art. Home to five golf courses, a variety of historical attractions, antiques and university sporting events, the city holds 25 festivals and events throughout the year. Norman Public Schools have been recognized both statewide and nationally for exceptional teachers and instructional programs and the University of Oklahoma is considered the state’s premiere institution of higher education. Norman is family-friendly, with such activities as swimming, horseback riding, visits to a zoo, miniature golf, go-kart racing and a variety of other events at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds. Located just a few miles south of Oklahoma City, Norman also provides easy access to all the amenities and cultural attractions available there.
