Oakwood is a senior community with 40 assisted living units, 13 memory care units, and a capacity for 60 residents. Built in 1998 on 5.5 acres, 70 miles southwest of Dallas/Forth Worth, the community was expanded in 2005 to include memory care. Our assisted living residents have access to a library/study, activity center, card and game areas, beauty/barber shop, large dining room, complimentary coffee center, great room and enclosed courtyard. Assisted living residential units feature self-contained kitchenettes but are unfurnished to allow residents to add a personal touch to their quarters. The memory unit includes living, dining, and laundry areas, and a courtyard. Stephenville is a community of 16,000 and the county seat of Erath County. Agriculture contributes $200 million to the local economy and the county’s dairy industry leads the state in milk production. Stephenville is also home to manufacturing, retail and health care businesses, as well as Tarleton State University (TSU). Centrally located in Erath County, Stephenville is situated at the convergence of six highways, making it the retail and medical services center for 80,000 people within a 30-mile radius. Some 1,400 local citizens work in manufacturing, while TSU employs 715 staff for a student population of 6,400. In a 1992 report, Erath County was pronounced the fifth best Texas county in economic development. Author Norman Crampton also named Stephenville one of the 100 best small towns in America in a 1993 book published by Prentice Hall. At Oakwood, our staff members help residents get the most out of life by organizing a health and wellness program that provides recreational and social activities designed to meet individual needs. Support groups and our professional staff are always available to assist with any issues that may face our residents. Our health education programs promote both fun and healthy living. While we are available 24 hours a day to help our residents, our staff members constantly support them in living with dignity and independence as much as possible. Our assisted living staff is available at all times to help residents carry out a variety of day-to-day activities. We can help with ordering medication. We can remind residents to take their medication and, should they want or need assistance, we can even administer it to them. |
