Kendal at Hanover opened its doors in July 1991 and is governed by its own Board of Directors. While we are wholly committed to the core values and philosophy of The Kendal Corporation (as outlined in Kendal Corporation's published document, Value and Standards), our mission statement (which follows) reflects our community's particular history and individual circumstances.
Statement of Mission: Kendal at Hanover is a not-for-profit continuing care retirement community characterized by mutual respect, integrity and a concern for each other's welfare that fosters the independence, vitality, health and security of older persons and in which residents and staff may exercise their talents in a supportive environment.
Kendal communities seek to enhance the quality of life and independence of residents by providing high-quality services and health care and enabling resident-driven lifestyles, so that each resident may realize his or her full potential.
In every area of its work, Kendal is guided by its published Values and Standards which are, in turn, rooted in basic Quaker values.
The Kendal organization relies not only on the energies and good will of its staff members, board members, and residents but also on the exchange of ideas with others in the field of service to older persons. Kendal will take an active role in public policy issues and will participate in professional associations.
