Introducing Companion Living: the Affordable Alternative in Senior Living
Questions & Answers about Companion Living
Q. Why was Companion Living developed?
A. We have introduced Companion Living to give more people access to assisted living. At Emeritus, we believe that everyone deserves the right to quality assisted living, should the need arise. Companion Living is an affordable alternative to do just that.
Q. How are Companions assigned?
A. Like every aspect of our unique approach to assisted living, Companion Living placement is personalized to reflect the special needs of each individual. In general, people with similar care requirements are put together, to ensure that there will be mutual understanding and support. We also work hard to match compatible personality types and those with shared interests... with a goal of providing a basis for friendship and mutual support.
Q. My mother is such a shy, private person. Would Companion Living be right for her?
A. One of the advantages of Companion Living is that it gives residents someone to get acquainted with right away; and we all know that knowing one person makes it easier to meet others. Companion Living is well-suited to someone who has been widowed, or is moving from a private home.
Q. What if roommates just aren't compatible?
A. We make every effort to resolve the situation by finding a new Companion or moving a roommate to another apartment. And, in the rare instances when the concept seems unsuitable for a particular individual, we work to find another solution - either within our community or another setting.
Q. Does a reduced rate mean different services and amenities?
A. Absolutely not! Comparison Living residents enjoy all the privileges and amenities of other residents, including:
- Three homemade meals each day, served restaurant style
- Weekly housekeeping
- Linen and laundry services
- Personalized assistance with bathing and grooming
- Assistance with medications
- Access to spacious common areas
- Private dining room for special occasions
- Scheduled transportation
- 24-hour staffing and emergency response
- And much more!
A real choice - a real value

Companion Living residents receive all the advantages that make our approach to assisted living "just right:" personal assistance with all the activities of daily living, whenever it's needed; delicious, healthful meals; specially tailored programs and activities, for a cost that's significantly lower than private rates.
Companion Living residents are matched by needs, abilities and interests.
Companionship. Caring assistance. Exceptional value. And, most of all, peace of mind. That's what makes Companion Living a better choice for so many families.
