Bethel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center
For nearly 100 years, Bethel has been helping older adults live life to the fullest, caring for them with compassion and understanding.
Founded in 1911, Bethel was named after a floating chapel, the Bethel Ship John Wesley, which had docked in New York Harbor in 1845 to help newly arrived Swedish immigrants. This ship was later replaced by the New Bethel Ship John Wesley, pictured above. In 1914, the Bethel Swedish Methodist Episcopal Home for the Aged opened its doors in Brooklyn, New York to server the needs of the New York City area's growing senior population. The Home expanded and in 1920, relocated to Ossining, New York.
Today, Bethel offers a full Continuum of Care from its campuses in Ossining and Croton-on-Hudson, New York. Services are provided through The Pines; affordable apartments for independent living seniors, the Bethel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Ossining; a 78-bed skilled nursing facility. The Springvale Inn, 125-unit assisted living apartment complex in Croton-on-Hudson; and the Bethel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Croton-on-Hudson, a 200-bed, state-of-the-art facility. The Continuum also includes community-oriented programs such as Adult Day Services, Home Care, VoiceCare, and Respite Care. With a dedicated staff of 500, Bethel provides housing and helath care for seniors in the immediate and outlying communities and, as such, has become the area's leader in senior care.
Although founded by, and for, Methodists, Bethel is a non-sectarian community, providing equal housing and employment without regard to race, creed, color, national origin, sex, disability, or marital status.
