Neveh Horim

Neve Horim - United Aged Home, was founded in 1878 by community leaders in the Old City of Jerusalem, Initially, it, was a Day Center for Elderly Men. Later, they added a separate section for women, Eventually, it reached the status of an Old Age home.

At the turn of the Century, new buildings were built In the Romema Quarter of Jerusalem where the main bus station is currently located. In August of 1966, the Home moved to its present location in the Katamon Quarter near the Park where the San Simeon Monastery is found.

The Home is a Non-Profit institution administered by a Board of Trustees composed of leaders of the Jerusalem Community.

As a religious residence, kashrut and Shabbat are kept.  There are Approximately 300 Elderly Residents, including new immigrants mostly from the lower socio-economic strata of Jerusalem and its environs. They receive 3 meals daily and a variety of services such as physiotherapy. X-Ray, Laboratory and a full range Pharmacy. There is a staff of 12 people for occupational therapy and there is a doctor on the premises 24 hours a day.

The Home grants services to all kinds of Population requiring Geriatric Care; Those on Independent Status, Frail, Feeble, Alzheimers, Nursing Care and Compounded Nursing Care.

The staff is composed of 220 employees; 190 on a full time basis. It is composed of doctors, nurses, nurses aides, social workers, physio-therapists, accupational therapists. Maintenance and kitchen employees; administration. We also have 7 young lady volunteers who are perfoming their national service. besides other volunteers

The Home maintains close ties with the Hebrew University and Bar Ilan University Schools, We assist in the preparation of interns in Social Work, Medicine and Occupational Therapy. We also participate in studies conducted by National Organizations.
