Since 1963, First Community Village has been making history. A true pioneer in both housing and services for older adults, the Village was the first Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) in Central Ohio. Sam Boymel and his wife Rachel immigrated to the United States in 1949. Three children and 18 years later, Sam and Rachel Boymel were able to fulfill their dream. Altercare of Mentor is a 135 - bed skilled and intermediate care facility located in Lake County. A 16 - bed secured Alzheimer's unit, dedicated to the special needs of residents with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders, allows each individual resident to attain their highest level of functioning. A caring, professional staff and homelike environment help meet the needs of all residents.
