In 1845, the first families arrived in Embrun. The village is located in the center of Russell County, Russell township. Embrun is a French community although most of it's five thousand residents are bilingual. This village offers all that is needed for peaceful living: medical clinics, pharmacies, grocery stores and other merchants. Embrun is easily accessible by the 417 highway.

The history of the Malcolm house is an integral part of the Retirement Residence and Kurhaus "your path to wellness". The house was purchased in 1923 by James Malcolm, Chairman of the Andrew Malcolm Furniture Company. Vision Nursing Home is a one hundred and ten (110) bed long term care home with one hundred and eight (108) permanent placement beds and one (1) male and one (1) female short stay (respite) bed.
