Hi All, I am looking into building a single level home for my mother. I have seen a few single level homes around town and was interested in the concept. These homes were all one level, no steps or other hazards that may be a concern. Also there was a very small lawn which was maintained. THe homes were built as duplexes, however a little pricy for the area. The question is if you think these homes are viable in that they are built for a very specific market. With no basement you are limiting who may limit yourself when trying to resell the home. I have also considered building one of these homes since we have some space on our acreage. Does anyone have any experience building a single level home or a home for people with limited mobility. When thinking about my retirement I have thought about a nice lakefront lot and have had my on a few for future building plans. I would prefer to build myself and again am hoping someone might have any comments about building a lakefront property for retirement dreams. Thanks!!
