Retirement residence for my Parents! Can't Post Private Reply

Greetings All,
I am seeking a retirement residence for my parents and I am not having much luck. I am looking in the areas of: Griffin, Brooks, Peachtree City, GEORGIA. My parents are on a very fixed income and could not manage more than $550.00 a month. If need be, I could help with an additional $100.00 a month.
My father is recovering from a stroke (he's 72), but requires only minimal assistance (that my mother can provide).
My mother is 69 and independent, does not requrie care.
Currently they are in Florida, renting a home... but they have to be out in January 06, because the house has sold. I know they need to be by family. So PLEASE, if anyone has any guidance, direction, or suggestions regarding finding safe, suitable living for my parents, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you!
Thank you genuinely,
MJ

I live in Michigan and can not help you find a home. Many people still think to be independent you must be living at home or in a nursing home. There are retirement homes, assisted lving and no medical in home assistance.

I have written a book about aging with physical challenges which is geared to staying independent longer. From my own experiences at 58 years old and living with retinitis pigmentosa the search for products and services offered a reason to share this information with others.

I used to be a home organizer for seniors and met other service providers. Some of this information like long term care insurance, reverse mortgages, elder care attorney, moving tips, in home care services are just some of the topics discussed. If you would like to review the table of contents, please visit http://www.eldercareconcierge.net.

I recently sent email newsletters to people who may value them. Now comes the time to ask your permission to keep sending them. They should not be conceived as SPAM.

If you have not received any, please tell me you want a sample before making a decision.

Past newletters discussed aging, physical challenges, special fundraising project, and coupons for personal services such as skin care and massages.

Are there topics of interest to you that can be included in the next newsletter? Any personal story of clients that would be of value to others (no names please)?

If you want to contribute an article, please get back with me.

I am not real sure but I know that most section 8 or government assisted housing would require being on a waiting list. There is such a place in Atlanta and should be many more in Griffin and Fayetteville as well. Georgia Baptist Towers is nice. I do believe it would have a waiting list. There is a community in Fairburn or Union City not too far from Fayetteville called Christian City as well that has it's own hospital etc.
I hope you find something. I am from Georgia and hoping to talk my folks into moving back there. My mother is 84 and my father 78 and even though their health is good now that could change at anytime. I am also looking for places for them to live and hope to get them started on a waiting list. Good luck to you...
