Build it and will they come. This famous vision, from the movie Field of Dreams with Kevin Costner, became a mantra in the marketing world, and is relevant today. Marketers constantly try new, innovative ways to promote their services, products, and brand. The classic follow-up is: did they come? Did the campaign lead to an increase in awareness? It may seem like a silly point, but too often marketers forget about the measurements involved in promotion, and rely more on design, content, or the offer. All are important, but so is the balance between them. We have this discussion a lot in our office, and it’s a fair one.
