March RetirementHomes.com Reading – Perspectives Can't Post Private Reply

"In the middle of every difficulty lies opportunity," said Albert Einstein, a quote that rings true in a troubled global economy. Perspective means maintaining hope for a better future rather than despairing over the past. The media dutifully reports on the demanding path ahead and it serves little purpose to wonder what could have been if the markets hadn’t rapidly declined.

The only perspective worth considering is to re-build and revive our lives and businesses and to become better people for it. Bankruptcies have leveled all types of companies including manufacturing plants, retail distributors and retirement communities. It's rough to keep perspective when the end is nowhere in sight.

Naturally, there's no easy answer for the senior housing industry, with tight lines of credit, and more seniors being unable to afford retirement options, until they sell their homes in a locked housing market, and overcome losses to their 401Ks. Still, keeping things in perspective seems to be an honored way to perceive even the most arduous of times.

"When you look at yourself from a universal standpoint, something inside always reminds or informs you that there are bigger and better things to worry about." Einstein again, the shaggy physicist whose ability to overcome doubt guided him to some of the greatest scientific theories in recent history. There's something to be said about looking beyond oneself and applying the entrepreneurial confidence that created a burgeoning, multi-tiered retirement industry.

The world has changed rapidly in the past few months and keeping perspective is trying, but that is the only possibility we have.
