Journey to Auckland, NZ, for a Voyage into Faith-based Ageing and Care. Hosted by The Selwyn Centre for Ageing and Spirituality. Sunday August 30, to Wednesday September 2, 2009 at the University of Auckland School of Engineering. The issues of ageing and spirituality will be discussed against the backdrop of gender, culture and new models of care. The conference will consider the positive possibilities of ageing well, and flourishing, despite difficulties. The international conference will bring together researchers, aged care practitioners and those with an interest in helping older people find meaning and fulfillment towards the end of their lives. Keynote Speakers include: . Jeff Levin, Ph.D., M.P.H., an epidemiologist and Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University Medical Center, is a pioneering scientist whose research, beginning in the early 1980s, helped to create the field of spirituality and health. . Topic: Spirituality, Aging, and Health - An Epidemiologist's Perspective. . Rev Dr Elizabeth MacKinlay, a registered nurse and a priest in the Anglican Church and the Director of the Centre for Ageing and Pastoral Studies at St Marks National Theological Centre, Canberra (Australia) . Topic: Spirituality, Ageing and Health - a spiritual perspective on dying. . Rev. Professor John Swinton, holds the chair in Practical Theology and Pastoral Care at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, United Kingdom. . Reverend Malcolm Goldsmith, was ordained in 1962 and has worked in parishes in Birmingham, Nottingham and Edinburgh. . Topic: Faith in Older People - the challenge of creative ageing.
