Spring! It's great! Our thoughts are uplifted and we can gratefully say that winter is behind us; the best is yet to come. The earliest harbingers of spring are back - crocuses and daffodils - robins and returning geese. There's a verdant promise in the breeze that's soon to be realized. Spring is a cycle of rebirth: the temperatures warm, the rains shower the sidewalks and streets, and the earth wakes up from its frozen slumber. Spring happens rather quickly and catches us by surprise, but it's welcome nonetheless. It's time to lower our frosty guard and accept the newness of it all. Welcome to the April 2010 edition of the RetirementHomes.com Newsletter which promises to be a rewarding read for the Senior Living industry. 1. Technology for Aging Expert, Laurie Orlov, writes about the conflicted lives of middle boomers born between 1952 and 1958, unable to acknowledge painful realities of aging in Are boomers in the middle of self-delusion? 2. Harold Urman Ph.D. of Vital Research, outlines the fascinating history of PACE, a preventative care based program that originated in San Francisco in the early 70s, expanding to more than 72 PACE programs operating in 31 states. Read, Getting in Step with PACE. 3. Michael P. Sullivan of 50-Plus Communications Consulting articulates the personal bond between grandparents and their grandchildren in The Power of Grandparenting to Your Retirement Community. 4. Getting Social with RetirementHomes.com. Find out what all the buzz is about with the upswing in social networking. Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, LinkedIn. The revolution is growing. 5. Upcoming Events . The Virginia Assisted Living Association's 2010 Annual Spring Conference, April 19 to 21, featuring a special address by Mr. Evan Heltay, President of RetirementHomes.com. . The Ontario Long Term Care Association and the Ontario Retirement Communities Association 2010 Convention, April 25 to April 27. 6. Explore the The Five Stages of a Team in Clint Maun's The Key to Creating Effective Teams. A team-based approach is critical to the success of healthcare organizations. Teams allow leaders and management to effectively delegate work, and create an enjoyable experience for its members. Greet the Spring! ENJOY!
