Theme: Biology of Aging - New Answers to Old Questions

The Biology of Aging theme is composed of symposia, chaired by recognized leaders in the field. This promises to be an excellent multi discipline meeting, covering all aspects of aging. Symposium talks will be presented by internationally regarded experts from the United States and Canada. Abstracts will also be invited for poster presentation.

The 2008 program is organized by Dr. Phillip Gardiner, Director, HLHP Research Institute, and Canada Research Chair in Physical Activity & Health Studies, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, MB

Keynote lecturer: Leonard Hayflick, University of California, San Francisco, USA - "Aging is No Longer an Unsolved Problem in Biology"

Symposia:

  1. Chair: Peter Jones, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, MB - "Nutrition as a determinant of successful aging"

  2. Chair: Judy Anderson, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, MB - "Muscles: from molecules to mobility"

  3. Chair: Dan Sitar, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, MB - Co-Chair: Dr. Ruby Grymonpre, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, MB - "Dilemmas of drug therapy in the elderly"
