Homeland's story begins in the winter of 1866, in the aftermath of the Civil War. Battlefield casualties were not the only human losses of that conflict, as soldiers' wives, widows, and parents struggled to provide for dependent family members without the support of dead and disabled husbands and sons. In December of 1866, the Harrisburg Patriot called attention to "the large number of children who are daily to be seen on our streets in a ragged, forlorn condition."

The Resident Care Team, including the Administrator and Nurse, oversees the care and services provided by the specially-trained Resident Assistants. Apartments at Grayson View Harrisburg are rented on a monthly basis. Our apartments are fully carpeted, with individual climate control and emergency call systems. At Grayson View Harrisburg, you will enjoy the privacy of your own individual apartment within a community of care and support.

Resident life at Presbyterian Apartments is determined almost entirely by our residents! Resident Self-Determination is how we describe the self-governance and active involvement our residents have in their communities. From social activities to health care concerns, our residents have a strong voice as to how things are done. The Colonial Pines Golden Age Home is a personal care residence that provides an “assisted living” environment for disabled and elderly adults.

Each resident has an attending physician of his or her choice. A broad range of specialists including podiatrists, dentists, optometrists, audiologists, psychiatrists, and psychologists are available to provide other treatment as necessary.
