Medina Nursing Center was built as a joint project of the town of Durand and a group of businessmen in the area. The doors of Medina opened on May 17, 1965 at 11:00 a.m., with the admission of our first resident. Two more were admitted on that day and many more followed in the weeks and months to come. In 1978 a new 25 bed wing was added to help with the growing needs of the community. In 1994 a full time therapy department was added to aid in our Medicare Program.

In November of 1985 our first tenant arrived in our new retirement complex which was built adjacent to the Nursing Center. The complex has 22 independent apartments ranging in size from small studios to two bedrooms. This complex has its own dining /community room with a noon meal provided daily. The tenants of this complex must be independent, yet the security of nursing home staff nearby if needed.
