De Smet Good Samaritan Center is in the "Little Town on the Prairie" as dubbed by the famous author Laura Ingalls Wilder. De Smet is in north-central South Dakota, and the small community of 1,300 with a hometown atmosphere is host to several tourist attractions. Several replicas of Laura's life still adorn the community of De Smet.
